Answering that ask earlier has got me thinking and now I’ve remembered something.
Sid and Andy also wrote a play together called ‘The Dream Box’ that they performed at conventions. I did a lot of searching once in an attempt to learn more about it, but I couldn’t find out very much. It sounded quite interesting though and I really wish they’d publish the script or something. All of the characters were just played by the two of them, and at one point Sid was playing Garak and Andy was Bashir!
I remember mentions of two scenes in particular. In the first one, someone mentioned that the scene changed just as Palandine (played by Andy) was putting the moves on Garak (played by Sid).
The other was where, through the Vinculum, Garak and Bashir were able to communicate without the universal translator. Garak was revelling in finally being able to truly understand Julian, in finally hearing all of the subtle meaning in his words and inflection that the UT can’t translate. They said he did this by asking Bashir over and over again to say ‘I love you’, like a parent to their child or how one would to a lover, etc. I don’t know why, but that makes me feel sad somehow.
I really wish I’d been able to see them perform this. *sigh*
